The Workforce Planning Board of Waterloo Wellington Dufferin has now completed the latest planning report. The report "Trends Opportunities and Priorities - A Lens on Local Industry 2010" will be distributed electronically within the next week and will be publicly launched on May 11th. The report examines opportunities and challenges impacting employment in local industries, including four in the manufacturing sector.

The launch will take place at the Waterloo Inn in partnership with the Greater Kitchener Waterloo Chamber of Commerce and we are very pleased to be able to present Dr. Rick Miner as the keynote speaker. Dr. Miner recently released his latest report on employment in Ontario entitled People Without Jobs & Jobs Without People: Ontario's Labour Market Future. It should be interesting to relate his findings to what is happening here at the local level and an expert panel will also give a variety of perspectives on local labour market challenges and opportunities. Regional Chair Ken Seiling will lead the event as Master of Ceremonies.

This lunch event will run from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm. For more details or to register, please click here to be taken to the registration page at the KW Chamber.

If you would like to receive a copy of the local report, or have any questions or comments, please don't hesitate to contact me at carol@workforceplanningboard.com
