Top 10 job prospects based upon research conducted by Robert Half International

Yesterday, Robert Half International released the top 10 jobs for 2010 and a representative was on Canada AM this morning to talk about those jobs. Before I mention what the jobs are, these jobs are based upon Robert Half International surveys in the areas of accounting and finance, information technology and administration. There are two things these jobs have in common - they keep the company running competitively and they are jobs that will see salary increases in 2010. These are knowledge-based jobs - jobs that are more about ideas and processes than about producing an actual product.

So, for everyone who wants to know the top 10 jobs, here they are:

  • Senior financial analyst
  • Credit manager
  • Senior accountant
  • Accounting clerk
  • Network engineer
  • Business systems analyst
  • Systems engineer
  • Customer service representative
  • Executive assistant
  • Data entry specialist

Despite the demand for people in these sectors, the survey also expects that the pay increases for the sectors of accounting, IT and administration will not increase significantly. In some cases, the salary guides estimate that most positions in these areas will see a 0.2-0.4% decrease in salaries.

It's a good sign that there's high demand being demonstrated from entry level positions to senior positions.  This speaks well to ongoing opportunities for all experience levels.

Do you know if this survey looked at trades Carol?
