Recent study identifies top 40 employers of preference for Gen Y?

I came across an interesting article today on Workopolis regarding a study done last year around Gen Y's workplaces of choice.

Some 27,000 students from 50 universities and colleges in Canada participated in the survey which identified their ideas of which industries they would like to work in as well as some of the aspects of an employer they would consider important for them to work there.

Some highlights from the article are the top 5 employers which are as follows:
1. Government of Canada

2. Health Canada

3. Google

4. Provincial Government

5. Apple

This is a bit of surprise considering a lot of us think of Gen Y as wanting employment mobility not security as would appear evident from the list above.  Apart from work-life balance, they want to work where there is a recognized commitment to retain and grow talent and provide opportunities for advancement. Also surprisingly, 73% indicated that they would relocate from their home province to find employment with a desirable employer.
