Use these two questions to "jump-start" your new year ...
The "000's" are officially over. And frankly, some of us are probably relieved to turn the page on 2009 with its grim economic recession and job upheavals.
But on the threshold of 2010, I don't need the prospect of a new decade to get me going. Any regular "new year" has loads of potential for change, personal development, professional growth and new adventures. In this new year, the possibilities are endless for any of us to re-invent ourselves. January is, after all, the time for resolution-making -- business or career goal-setting and typically, a renewed commitment to a weight-loss plan following holiday over-indulgence!
In pondering the next 12 months that are about to unfurl, I came across this little motivational video which I think offers an excellent message to help "jump-start" the year. In it, Dan Pink, New York Times bestselling author of "A Whole New Mind" asks two simple questions. I hope you'll take a moment to reflect on these questions and figure out how they apply to you.
I probably won't make any resolutions this month -- I'm old enough to realize they just don't work for me. And why court failure? But I will take personal inventory of my life, my habits and my business to find ways in which I can improve. For me, that might mean a greater focus on being a life-long learner and reading more books to help hone my marketing and sales skills. It might mean taking more risks and not playing it safe so often. Oh and yes, I plan to continue going to the gym 3-4 times a week! I expect the place will be crowded this month...
Whether you make personal resolutions or not, I'd like to wish you a very happy, healthy and successful New Year!
