Ontario could be on the road to getting more automotive jobs.
A senior Toyota Canada executive says there's no reason why Toyota couldn't build its new hybrids in Canada.
And there will be plenty of new products coming down Toyota's assembly lines.
Stephen Beatty says it plans to launch nine new or revised vehicles in Canada this year, plug-in hybrids and all-electric cars in 2012 and hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles in 2015.
Toyota now employs 6,500 people in Ontario where it builds the Corolla, the Matrix and the RAV4
Last month, Toyota said it will hire 800 people at its plant in Woodstock to increase production of the RAV4 SUV, and more increases could be on the way there.
About 4,500 people assemble the Corolla, Matrix and Lexus RX350 models in Cambridge.
