CEO Thinking ~ Change Management
A month ago, one of the LinkedIn groups asked a question 'What is time?". That started an exchange of thoughts. One fellow mentioned Eckhart Tolle would have views about Time. I said I would write to him to check it out firsthand. So, I wrote to Eckhart Tolle to ask him to explain his views of Time.
I let him know I had read some of his books and I knew he had commented on Time and I was interested in a summary of his views.
I have not, as yet, received Eckhart Tolle's response.

Of course, good leaders want to:
- Do a good job at delegating authority for decision making
- Empower people so they are motivated to expand their decision making
Here are a couple of important considerations:
- Delegation must be consistent…people need to be told the rules and the extent of their authorities
- Delegation must be communicated…it is not enough to say "Our people are empowered to make decisions". It is important to ensure people understand how and when their authorities…
Why?
Why do personal Values fuel everything?
As an introduction, here are a few answers:
- Decision-Making is simplified when values are clear and known. When decision-making is simplified, that creates efficiency…and efficiency means lower costs, higher gross margins, and higher profit.
- Trust can be built quickly. Deals are easier to do when the parties each knows the other's 'good values'. Trust promotes prompt and fair deals, so more opportunities are realized. Trust helps us…
I don't have enough time to do that!
How often do you say that? How often do you think that?
Do you ever question whether or not that is true?
I have been thinking about Time quite a bit lately.
I started thinking about Time a couple of months ago when, one after another, I heard a number of people say they did not have time to do this or to do that. It expanded when a friend asked me if I had read anything by the [Canadian] author Eckhart Tolle1. It expanded more when the…

Here is a table I created after reading Stephen R. Covey's The 8th Habit.
The 8th HABIT - Stephen Covey
| WHOLE PERSON | 4 NEEDS | 4 INTELLEGENCES / CAPACITIES | 4 ATTRIBUTES | VOICE | VALUES / MANIFESTATIONS |
| MIND | To learn | Mental Intelligence (IQ) | Vision | Talent (Disciplined Focus) | desire, dreams, hopes, goals, plans, imagination... sense of self, destiny, mission, role in life, purpose and meaning |
| BODY | To live | Physical Intelligence (PQ) | Disc… |
We have a P=2S+O© philosophy…
For every Problem we should come up with at least 2 Solutions. And, we should keep our eyes and ears open for Opportunities.
We think:
- We should work at Solutions before we take Problems to our bosses: when we have a need to receive help from our boss we should at least take 2 Solutions with each Problem. Our bosses will appreciate that. And, this approach will help us develop keen problem-solving skills.
- Problems do not equal Opportunities in…
Maybe, your plate is too full.
On top of having a too-full plate, you may be missing the forest because of the trees.
Those idioms exist for good reason…I mean, where there is smoke there is fire.
Questions: How do people's plates get too full? Why do people miss the forest because of the trees?
Answer: Because people often do not Seek Simple.
There are several ways to Seek Simple:
- We can look for the essence of the thing at hand…we can do that by peeling off the layers…
Think about the things you do best.
Think about the things your company does best.
…People compliment you
…People compliment your coworkers
…People write nice things about your products and services
…People seek you out to take tours of your operation
These are a few of the ways you can identify your Bright Lights.
Likely, these Bright Lights will also align with your areas of highest gross margin.
Without getting into much detail, but remembering Pareto's Law1,…
